Maureen Chapman
I am proud to be Sto:lo. I am the hereditary Chief of Skawahlook First Nation, which is one of the 19 member First Nations in Sto:lo Nation. I have been on council since 1991 and have been hereditary Chief since May 1999, when Grand Chief Anna Maguire passed the roles and responsibilities on to me. I am one of 14 children to Bill Chapman Sr. (deceased) and Anna (Chapman) Maguire of Ruby Creek, British Columbia.
I have one son and three grandsons, and they are some of the reasons I am an advocate for what is right, conducting myself with honesty and integrity in all that I do. If we can truly unite as a nation, and do not play into the hands of those that seek to turn us against each other, then I know our children and grandchildren will have a bright and prosperous future.
